Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager-Project Manager (CM-PM) to oversee and manage facility construction and modernization of the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) infrastructure at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, with a proven track record in managing all aspects of project delivery, including design, construction, cost management, and schedule control. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in healthcare projects and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead and manage facility construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to technical quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the engineering, design, and construction teams, providing clear and decisive direction to ensure project success.
  • Document Interpretation: Read, interpret, and apply construction documents, ensuring all project team members are aligned with the project goals and requirements.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders, including team members, clients, and contractors, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain daily progress and inspection reports, providing accurate and timely updates on project status.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead the inspection and quality assurance team to ensure all construction activities meet the required standards and are completed on time.
  • Cost Management: Oversee program budgeting, cost management, and schedule control to ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • EHRM Project Management: Provide construction management for EHRM (Electronic Health Record Modernization) projects, ensuring integration of business, technical, and project management activities.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited university. A substitution of 15 years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in managing facility construction projects, including supervision of engineering, design, and construction teams, cost management, and project budgeting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents.
    • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
    • Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
    • Experience in healthcare projects/facilities is preferred.
Compensation

A salary commensurate with background and experience will be offered. (SteerBridge salaries depend on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to the contract budget, role, skill set and level of experience.)
