🚀 We’re Hiring: Senior Data Engineers (7+ Years Experience)

SteerBridge Strategies, a Veteran-led small business, is seeking Senior Data Engineers to join our growing team based at our headquarters in Tysons Corner (Vienna, VA). This role plays a critical part in supporting a high-impact federal initiative by modernizing and optimizing complex data systems at scale.

What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll lead the development of scalable, secure data pipelines and mentor mid-level engineers while collaborating across data science, engineering, and federal teams. You will:

• Design, develop, and maintain batch and real-time data ingestion pipelines
• Architect and manage data lakes for structured and unstructured data
• Use tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Apache Kafka, and SQL/Python for transformation and workflow automation
• Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and compliance across platforms
• Integrate with cloud-based storage and streaming systems (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob)
• Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and developers to support secure, scalable data products
• Document data pipelines, standards, and engineering best practices
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior and mid-level engineers

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a government security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data pipeline development
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, Kafka, AWS Glue, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with modern data lake architecture and ETL frameworks
• Knowledge of real-time data streaming and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, CCPA, NIST)
• Strong data modeling skills and ability to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills across technical and non-technical teams

Location:

Must be local to the Washington, D.C. area and able to work on-site at our Vienna, VA office (5 days/week). Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.
