Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to support ongoing construction and facility improvement projects at the VA Medical Center in Sepulveda, CA. The ideal candidate will provide construction oversight and technical expertise, ensuring electrical systems are designed, installed, and maintained according to VA standards, safety regulations, and contract specifications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for electrical systems during the planning, design, and construction phases of facility projects.

  • Oversee and inspect ongoing electrical work to ensure compliance with construction documents, safety codes, and applicable standards.

  • Provide technical support in reviewing electrical design submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and change orders.

  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and VA personnel to resolve technical issues and schedule conflicts.

  • Participate in construction meetings and prepare detailed inspection reports and status updates.

  • Monitor progress and quality of work, ensuring adherence to project milestones and contract specifications.

  • Ensure electrical systems are installed and tested in accordance with NFPA, NEC, and VA design standards.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical systems and infrastructure.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training Certificate 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting major construction projects in a construction management, inspection, program controls, or construction administration capacity.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, and VA design guidelines.

  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with project management tools.
