Job Summary:
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing the movement, restocking, and accounting of pharmaceutical items across various storage locations. This role ensures the accurate maintenance of inventory records, adherence to pharmaceutical regulations, and optimal inventory levels to prevent stockouts. The Inventory Specialist will collaborate with pharmacy staff, utilize automation systems, and perform regular audits to support efficient pharmaceutical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the movement, restocking, and accounting of pharmaceutical items in multiple storage locations.
Compile and maintain precise inventory records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Identify supply requirements and recommend re-order points for revolving stock.
Maintain inventories of drugs and supplies, including stocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates of pharmaceuticals.
Fill and stock medications in various automated devices and storage locations.
Operate pharmacy automation systems such as Autofill devices, Baker Cells, Kalish cells, A-frames, repackaging equipment, and electronic scales.
Utilize computer screens and scanning equipment to select specific drugs/products by name, strength, and National Drug Code (NDC) number.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for pharmaceutical inventory management.
Collaborate with pharmacy staff to maintain appropriate inventory levels and prevent stockouts.
Participate in regular inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years in inventory management, preferably in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting.
Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with accuracy.
Proficiency in using computer systems and inventory management software.
Typing proficiency of at least 45 words per minute.
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
U.S. citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Fluency in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
Experience in mail-order facility processing is preferred.
