POSITION OVERVIEW

SteerBridge seeks a Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to provide Construction Management Services supporting infrastructure upgrades across Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).

The Mechanical Engineer will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to the administration of construction, design/build, engineering, and facilities management for complex-construction projects. Services will include, but not limited to, pre-design phase services, design phase services, procurement phase services, construction services, claims services, administration services, and technical specialty services.

REQUIRED

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be eligible and able to pass a federal background check, as well as complete the necessary processes to receive a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.

EDUCATION & YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineering degree with Specialization in HVAC and/or Plumbing from an accredited institution of higher learning. The individual shall have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this project. 
  • Must possess communication, language, and software skills with the ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy
  • Plumbing expertise, particularly in designing and maintaining high-purity water systems like RO (Reverse Osmosis) water piping systems.
  • HVAC/R knowledge, especially related to maintaining sterile environments and controlling humidity levels.
  • Mechanical systems proficiency, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues to ensure system reliability.
  • Understanding of water treatment processes and microbial control to address high bacteria level test reports.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations, particularly those related to healthcare facilities and laboratory environments.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and system optimization to minimize bacterial growth.
  • Familiarity with clean room design and maintenance principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex issues like persistent bacterial contamination.
  • Project management abilities to oversee renovation projects from conception to completion.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in water system design.
  • Expertise in water quality testing and analysis to interpret high bacteria level test reports.
  • Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques for water systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems for monitoring water quality and system performance
