Electrical Engineer – OBO Major Rehabilitation Project (Athens, Greece)
Position Type: Full-Time | Location: Athens, Greece Duration: 24 Months (OCONUS Assignment) Clearance Required: Final Secret (minimum) – must be able to obtain Top Secret Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000+ (Total compensation exceeds base salary)
Position Summary: SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) on a major rehabilitation effort at a diplomatic post in Athens, Greece. This role is responsible for onsite engineering oversight of all electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, low voltage, and backup systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide construction QA/QC for electrical systems installation and integration
Review and assess contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material specifications
Respond to and manage RFIs related to electrical work and keep accurate logs
Review and validate contractor pay applications and schedules
Support electrical system commissioning and turnover activities
Participate in IGE development for change orders and modifications
Evaluate electrical design calculations and ensure adherence to applicable codes
Monitor safety compliance and quality of electrical installations
Attend progress meetings and provide monthly updates focused on electrical progress
Coordinate with the Project Director, contractors, and government representatives
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management from an accredited U.S. university
OR a current Professional Engineer (PE) license in lieu of a degree
Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in construction environments
Design-only office experience does not meet the requirement
Active Final Secret or Interim Top Secret clearance at time of proposal
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Final Top Secret clearance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on Department of State OBO projects
Familiarity with international electrical codes and DoS standards
Prior overseas construction or embassy project experience
PE License, Registered Architect, or Certified Construction Manager credential
Experience with commissioning electrical systems such as UPS, emergency power, and fire alarm
