At SteerBridge Strategies, we drive digital transformation with technical excellence and mission-first focus. We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager who brings both strategic leadership and hands-on coding expertise to oversee software engineering and data science efforts in support of enterprise IT modernization for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

This role is not for task delegators. It is for those who can read and write production-level code, review architecture, and lead teams building secure, scalable platforms that modernize the VA’s claims processing systems.
  🔍 What You’ll Do
As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will:

• Lead Agile development teams through sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous integration/delivery
• Design and implement AI/ML models and rules-based engines for automation and decision support, requiring hands-on coding expertise in data processing or software development frameworks
• Translate functional requirements into technical tasks and oversee their execution
• Coordinate systems integration across cloud-native platforms and enterprise environments
• Supervise the work of Software Engineers and Data Scientists with active code review and technical validation
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, security standards, and interoperability requirements
• Manage DevSecOps pipelines, cloud-based deployments, and secure data environments
• Engage directly with GitLab repositories, CI/CD workflows, and code-level troubleshooting
• Foster continuous improvement through technical mentoring, Agile leadership, and solution-focused planning

✅ Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a government security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• 15+ years of IT project or program management experience, including 5+ years leading technical teams
• Hands-on coding experience with structured data workflows, metadata management, and systems modernization, including data transformation, integration, and automation
• Ability to read, write, and review production-level code (e.g., Python, Java, SQL)
• Experience managing Agile software development teams across the SDLC
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and modern DevSecOps toolchains
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

• PMP and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• Proficiency in Python, Java, and/or JavaScript or a similar programming language for data processing, automation, or system integration
• Working knowledge of VA disability claims processes, including contentions, diagnostic codes, and adjudication criteria
• Familiarity with clinical data standards such as FHIR, SNOMED CT, or LOINC
• Experience deploying enterprise systems in cloud-native environments (AWS or Azure)
