SteerBridge seeks an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in providing construction management and owner’s representation services for a state-of-the-art manufacturing and printing facility for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). This high-security, innovative complex in Beltsville, Maryland, will occupy a 104-acre site with a 1-million-square-foot main building. The facility will support a broad range of manufacturing and printing functions for U.S. currency and other government-issued documents, along with advanced security screening areas and extensive site infrastructure.

As the Senior Systems Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all systems control and integration aspects of this facility align with the project's rigorous security and operational requirements. You will lead in providing technical expertise for systems integration across Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Automated Mobile Robots (AMRs), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Building Automation Systems (BAS) that govern HVAC, plumbing, and other essential building functions. Additionally, you will oversee integration with security, lighting, fire protection, mass communication, AV, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for systems control and integration during the construction and setup phases of the facility.

  • Ensure all systems integration meets the intended design specifications for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Automated Mobile Robots (AMRs), and automated storage and retrieval systems.

  • Manage integration of systems supporting BEP’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Building Automation Systems (BAS) for HVAC, plumbing, and related process systems.

  • Oversee design compliance and operational setup for supporting systems, including lighting, fire alarms, fire suppression, security, AV, and communication systems.

  • Provide expert guidance on SCADA/PLC systems integration, ensuring seamless interoperability with BEP’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Conduct regular reviews to maintain adherence to technical standards, industry best practices, and security protocols.

  • Answer design and process-related questions from stakeholders to ensure the integration aligns with operational objectives and high-security standards.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including contractors, engineers, and government officials, to resolve technical challenges and enhance system reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years in systems integration engineering with hands-on experience in construction management for complex facilities.
    • Proven experience with systems integration in high-security environments, preferably with Department of Defense (DoD), federal, or industrial construction projects.
    • Demonstrated expertise in AGVs, AMRs, MES, WMS, and BAS, particularly in relation to manufacturing or production support.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SCADA/PLC systems, automation integration, and interfacing with ERP and CMMS platforms.
    • Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, fire protection, security, and communication systems within a construction management setting.
    • Familiarity with building automation and systems integration best practices.
  • Other Requirements:
    • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the project’s high-security nature.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances as required by the project.
