As part of the Modern Claims Processing (MCP) program, we are working to transform the claims process by developing intuitive, compliant, and accessible interfaces that enhance user experience and improve efficiency.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Product Designer to lead the design and development of user interfaces for HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2-compliant web and mobile applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role requires expertise in front-end development, user interface design, and creating user-validated systems that meet the needs of veterans and claims processing personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of accessible, user-validated interfaces for medical platforms and applications, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
  • Oversee the front-end development of web and mobile applications using Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to create responsive, intuitive interfaces for VA systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user needs and feedback into software requirements and design specifications for government-hosted medical systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team on best practices for interface design, front-end development, and ensuring applications meet government standards for accessibility and security.
  • Design, develop, test, and operate compliant web and mobile applications for VA that engage with medical devices, platforms, and healthcare data, ensuring usability and accessibility for all users.
  • Write and maintain design specifications, software requirements, and documentation for ongoing development and support of user-centered VA healthcare applications.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in front-end development and designing accessible, user-validated interfaces for engaging with medical devices, platforms, and healthcare data.
  • 7+ years of experience writing production-level code in Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for responsive web applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical leadership for government software projects, including writing software requirements and design specifications for government-hosted medical systems.
  • 1+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and operating HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2-compliant web and mobile applications for VA or similar federal healthcare systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of VA healthcare data systems, especially those involving claims processing and medical data integration.
  • Expertise in human-centered design (HCD) and user experience (UX) methodologies, ensuring that interfaces meet the needs of diverse users, including veterans and VA claims processing staff.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver intuitive, user-friendly solutions.
